How it is calculated

We use original OMIB matrices, answer keys and difficulty parameters (Koch et al., 2022). Build an answer from 20 elements; only an exact match earns credit. The 2PL model accounts for which tasks were solved; EAP estimates ability from the full response pattern. The IQ Exact algorithm is implemented in TypeScript and adapted to nine original sets. Eight forms contain 22 tasks and one contains 21: the authors excluded item 7 from the model, so it is not scored.

Formula

P(correct | θ) = 1 / (1 + exp(−a × (θ − b))) IQ = 100 + 15 × EAP(θ) 95% interval = IQ ± 1.96 × 15 × SD(θ | responses)

Limits of the method

Calibration: 2,561 German medical-school applicants, mean age about 19, unproctored and untimed. This is not a representative population norm. No age adjustment is available. The short test assesses matrix reasoning (Gf), not every component of intelligence. Extending scoring to nine sets is our adaptation, not a separate standardization.

The IQ number is an approximate index relative to the original OMIB sample. It does not replace a full psychological assessment, provide a diagnosis or determine a person's abilities or worth.

How to take the test

  1. 1

    Learn the format

Complete two practice tasks. Press an element to add it to the figure; press again to remove it.

  2. 2

    Solve 21–22 tasks

Find rules across rows and columns. Select any number of elements. You can return to earlier answers.

  3. 3

    Read your result

Finish after reviewing your answers. The IQ number comes with an interval and the number of correct answers.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a full intelligence test?

It is an open matrix-reasoning test. The IQ number uses the OMIB calibration-sample scale, rather than general-population or age norms. Clinical assessment requires a standardized battery and a professional.

Why is there no 40-minute limit?

The study underlying these parameters had no time limit. A hard timer would change the conditions. About 30 minutes is a guide; you may take longer.

Will tasks repeat, and can answers be looked up?

Nine original sets rotate without repeats in this browser's history, then the cycle restarts. The bank is open, so access to keys or clearing history cannot be prevented. Work independently for a meaningful result.
